ANALISIS KESALAHAN MAHASISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL PADA MATAKULIAH KAPITA SELEKTA MATEMATIKA 1

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal pada matakuliah Kapita Selekta Matematika 1 khususnya materi Penerapan persamaan Kuadrat di Prodi Pendisikan Matematika UNIPA Kampus Blitar yaitu mahasiswa tingkat 1B. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan 3 kategori kesalahan menurut Lerner yaitu konsep, keterampilan, dan pemecahan masalah. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa belum memenuhi 3 kategori kesalahan menurut Lerner. Rendahnya pengetahuan prasyarat mahasiswa tentang operasi bilangan, mahasiswa belum memahami tentang menentukan akar-akar persamaan kuadrat dengan cara melengkapkan bentuk kuadrat sempurna dan mahasiswa tidak memahami rumus abc untuk menentukan akar-akar persamaan kuadrat, serta mahasiswa kurang teliti dalam menggunakan operasi hitung. The aim of this study is to describe the errors made by students in solving problems in the subject of Selected Topics in Mathematics 1, specifically focusing on the topic of Quadratic Equation Applications, among first-year students in the Mathematics Education Study Program at UNIPA Blitar Campus, particularly those in the 1B class. This research adopts a qualitative approach. Three categories of errors according to Lerner are used in this study, namely concept, skill, and problem-solving errors. The findings of this research indicate that students have not fulfilled all three categories of errors according to Lerner. The low level of prerequisite knowledge about number operations, the lack of understanding in determining the roots of quadratic equations by completing the square, unfamiliarity with the ABC formula for finding the roots of quadratic equations, and lack of precision in using arithmetic operations are the main issues identified.
