Abstract

Kata Kunci: Problem Based learning, Bangun Ruang Sisi Datar Abstract: According to Propham and Baker (1992), essentially an effective learning process occurs if teachers can change students' abilities and perceptions from those who find it difficult to learn something to those who find it easy to learn it. They further explained that an effective teaching and learning process really depends on the selection and use of learning methods to maximize learning. Based on the results of observations and interviews with class VIII mathematics teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Wates Blitar, it was found that student learning outcomes in the material Building Flat Side Spaces were relatively low, this was due to several deficiencies in their learning, including a lack of motivation from students in using the material. This classroom action research aims to apply the Problem Based Learning learning model to students in class VIII-E of SMP Negeri 1 Wates on flat-sided geometric material. The subjects of this research consisted of 22 students. Meanwhile, the object of this research is the Problem Based Learning model. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets and test sheets. The results of the research data analysis showed that the classical completeness score was 90.9% with the number of students meeting the criteria, namely 20 students and 2 students not meeting the completeness criteria. The average value of the teacher activity observation sheet at meetings 1, 2 and 3 was 87.9% with very good criteria. Meanwhile, the results of student activity observation sheets at meetings 1, 2 and 3 obtained an average of 81.9% with good criteria. Thus, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning learning model can be applied to flat-sided spatial structure material for class VIII-E at SMP Negeri 1 Wates.
