MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERFIKIR MAHASISWA DENGAN MENGGALI POTENSI DIRI MELALUI PERTANYAAN ATAU GAGASAN TERTULIS DAN MEMECAHKAN MASALAH SENDIRI SECARA KELOMPOK

Abstract

Abstract: The Learning of Thinking Model is learning that is based on the development of the ability to think; the goal is not only to achieve mastery of the material, but also to develop ideas through verbal language proficiency. Students are expected to examine the facts or experiences as the basis for the development of the ability to think. It is a difficult task for the lecturer, because the students are still carried by pattern learning in High School, tend to wait for material from lecturer, low in searching of independence and developing knowledge as a competency. Classroom Action Research by Kemmis and Taggart model is applied with two cycles; the subjects are 56 students of the STKIP PGRI Trenggalek odd semester in the 2012/2013 academic year, who study Evaluasi Pendidikan. The action manipulates The Learning of Thinking Model to explore the students’ potential to improve their thinking, so they are able to increase their achievement through making written question or idea and problem solving in groups. The results of the study prove that students’ success in exploiting the ability of their thinking to achievement of high frequency increased 216.6%, fair frequency improved 108.3%, and on the low frequency decreased 212.6%. The average achievement of students’ learning increased from the initial capabilities of 46, after the implementation of the first cycle reached 72 and increased to 78 after the second cycle was conducted. It can be concluded that the approach of The Learning of Thinking Model by making written question or idea and problem-solving in group can improve students’ thinking and consequently, it can improve their achievement of the learning. Abstrak: Model Pembelajaran Peningkatan Kemampuan Berfikir (MP PKB) merupakan pembelajaran yang bertumpu pada pengembangan kemampuan berfikir, artinya tujuan yang ingin dicapai bukanlah sekedar penguasaan materi, akan tetapi bagaimana mahasiswa dapat mengembangkan gagasan dan ide melalu kemampuan berbahasa secara verbal. Melalui PTK model Kemmis dan Taggart dengan dua siklus, subyek 56 mahasiswa STKIP PGRI Trenggalek semester gasal tahun akademik 2012/2013 yang menempuh matakuliah Evaluasi Pendidikan. Tindakan yang dilaksanakan merupakan manipulasi MP PKB guna menggali potensi diri mahasiswa dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan berfikir mahasiswa sehingga mampu meningkatkan prestasi belajarnya, melalui membuat pertanyaan atau gagasan tertulis dan pemecahan masalah secara kelompok. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa keberhasilan mahasiswa dalam mengeksploitasi kemampuan berfikir mahasiswa dari frekuensi prestasi belajar tinggi meningkat 216,6%, frekuensi kualifikasi prestasi belajar sedang meningkat 108,3%, dan pada frekuensi kualifikasi prestasi belajar rendah turun 212,6%. Rata-rata pencapaian prestasi belajar mahasiswa meningkat dari kemampuan awal 46, setelah pelaksanaan tindakan siklus 1 mencapai 72 dan meningkat menjadi 78 setelah dilaksanakan tindakan pada siklus 2. Disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan PM PKB dengan manipulasi perlakuan membuat pertanyaan atau gagasan tertulis dan pemecahan masalah secara kelompok dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berfikir mahasiswa sehingga mampu meningkatkan prestasi belajarnya.
