PENGUATAN PARTISIPASI POLITIK MASYARAKAT DALAM PEMILIHAN UMUM

Abstract

Abstrak: Esensi demokrasi adalah memberikan ruang bagi masyarakat berpartisipasi merumuskan kebijakan publik. Rakyat diberi kebebasan menyampaikan aspirasinya dan mengawasi jalanya sistem pemerintahan tanpa ada tekanan dan intimidasi dari penguasa. Hal ini merupakan pencerminan perlindungan hak asasi warga negara dibidang politik dan sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip negara demokrasi, yakni rakyat sebagai pemegang kedaulatan tertinggi dan memiliki peran strategis dalam menentukan keberlangsungan sistem politikPartisipasi politik masyarakat dalam pemilihan umum tercermin dari sikap dan perilaku masyarakat untuk memberikan suaranya dalam pemilihan umum. Tingginya partisipasi politik masyarakat menunjukkan besarnya dukungan masyarakat terhadap sistem politik. Sikap dan prilaku golongan putih dalam pemilihan umum perlu diminimalisir supaya kredibilitas pemerintahan dan kualitas demokrasi tetap terjaga. Dalam hal ini peran partai politik sebagai sarana pendidikan politik perlu ditingkatkan untuk membangun kehidupan demokrasi yang berkualitas.
