Abstract

Abstrak Mempelajari kosa kata adalah salah satu tantangan besar bagi pembelajar bahasa asing untuk dihadapi selama proses pembelajaran sebuah bahasa. Kosa kata adalah elemen bahasa yang mengulas cerita, ide, dan isi yang dapat dipahami oleh pembaca. Anikel ini menyampaikan dan mengulas tentang instruksi-instruksi serta memberikan contoh-contoh dan teknikaeknik yang menjabrtrkan bagaimana guru dapat menerapkan instruksi secara efektif dalam pembelajaran kosa kata, dan bertujuan mengulas ke efektifan dari instruksi tidak langsung dan instruksi sesara langsung dalam pembelajaran kosa kata. Kata kunci: kosa kata, instruksi tidak langsung, dan insfruksi langsung Abstract: Vocabulary learning is one of the major challenges for foreign language learners to face during the process of learning a language. Vocabulary is the language element that holds stories, ideas and content together making comprehension accessible for the readers. The article presents and describes the instructions and provides examples and techniques that illustrate how teachers can apply vocabulary insfuction in an effective way, it also aims to discuss an effective of indirect and direct instructions in learning vocabulary. Keywords: vocabulary indirect instruction, and direct instruction INTRODUCTION Vocabulary is total number of words which (with rules for combining them) make up a language (Hornby, 1984:959). Vocabulary is one of five core components ofreading instruction that are essential to successfully teach children how to read. These core components include phonemic awareness, phonics and word study, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension (Joan, 2005:01).
