PROFIL PEMAHAMAN KONSEP SISTEM PERSAMAAN LINEAR BERBASIS METAPHORMING PADA MAHASISWA

Abstract

Abstrak : Hasil survey tahun 2015 oleh TIMSS, Indonesia menduduki ranking 45 dari 50 negara untuk bidang studi matematika. Sedangkan survey oleh OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperatition and Development) melalui PISA, Indonesia juga menduduki di ranking bawah yakni ranking 63 dari 70 negara. Hasil survey tersebut menggambarkan bahwa pebelajar Indonesia kurang mampu dalam menjawab permasalahan secara logis dan sistematis. Padahal jawaban merupakan interpretasi hasil pemikiran/penalaran seorang pebelajar, dan hasil pemikirannya akan menggambarkan pemahaman pebelajar tersebut. Berdasarkan keadaan tersebut, peneliti melakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil pemahaman konsep sistem persamaan linear berbasis metamorphing pada mahasiswa. Pemahaman konsep ini dianalisis berdasarkan indikator yang di breakdown dari definisi pemahaman menurut Uno yakni: (1) Kemampuan menterjemahkan, (2) kemampuan menafsirkan/menduga, dan (3) kemampuan menyatakan/menyimpulkan. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes sistem persamaan linear (mengetahui tingkat/level pemahaman mahasiswa) dan pedoman wawancara (mengetahui proses berpikir mahasiswa sebagai gambaran pemahaman konsep mahasiswa). Adapun deskripsi hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) Mahasiswa sudah mampu menterjemahkan soal-soal yang diberikan; (2) Mahasiswa masih lemah dalam menafsirkan penyelesaian dari soal-soal yang diberikan; dan (3) Mahasiswa kurang mampu menjelaskan cara penyelesaian soal-soal yang diberikan secara logis dan sistematis. While the survey by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) through PISA, Indonesia also ranked lower, ranking 63 of 70 countries. The results of the survey illustrate that Indonesian students are less able to answer problems logically and systematically. Though the answer is an interpretation of the students' thinking / reasoning results, and the results of their thinking will illustrate the learner's understanding. Based on these circumstances, researchers conducted a study that aimed to describe the profile of understanding the concept of a system of linear equations based on metamorphing in students. Understanding this concept is analyzed based on indicators that are broken down from the definition of understanding according to Uno, namely: (1) the ability to translate, (2) the ability to interpret/suspect, and (3) the ability to express/conclude. This type of research is qualitative research. The instrument of this research is a system of linear equation tests (knowing the level of student understanding) and interview guidelines (knowing the student's thought process as an illustration of students' understanding of concepts). The description of the results of this study are: (1) Students have been able to translate the questions given; (2) Students are still weak in interpreting the completion of the questions given; and (3) Students are less able to explain how to solve problems given logically and systematically.
