Abstract

Abstrak: Menurut Liebeck (dalam Abdurrahman, 2003: 253) menyatakan bahawa hasil belajar matematika yang harus dikuasai siswa adalah mathematics calculation dan mathematics reasoning. Seseorang yang telah belajar matematika seharusnya mempunyai kemampuan terkait dengan perhitungan dan penalaran yang baik. Padahal masih banyak ditemukan pebelajar (baik siswa maupun mahasiswa) yang sering melakukan kesalahan terkait dua hal tersebut. Berdasarkan keadaan tersebut, peneliti melakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil analisis kemampuan kogniif mahasiswa pada mata kuliah teori bilangan. Kemampuan kognitif ini dianalisis berdasarkan indikatoryang di breakdown dari definisi penguasaan hasil belajar matematika menurut Liebeck (dalam Abdurrahman, 2003: 253) yakni: (1) kemampuan perhitungan matematis (mathematics calculation), dan (2) kemampuan penalaran matematis (mathematics reasoning). Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes ujian akhir semester genap tahun akademik 2018/2019 pada mata kuliah teori bilangan. Adapun deskripsi hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) Kemampuan kognitif mahasiswa pada mathematics calculation sudah cukup baik yang ditunjukkan dengan beberapa mahasiswa telah mampu menyelesaikan soal-soal jenis mathematics calculation dengan benar. Namun demikian kemampuan tersebut masih perlu ditingkatkan lagi dalam hal ketelitian, kecermatan, dan kehati-hatiannya; dan (2) kemampuan kognitif mahasiswa pada bidang mathematics reasoning sudah cukup baik namun perlu ditingkatkan kembali dalam hal pemahaman konsep terhadap materi yang diujikan serta kemampuan mentransfer pengetahuan yang telah ada untuk menyelesaikan suatu masalah matematika. Mengingat peahaman konsep merupakan actor utama yang harus dikuasai agar penalaran dapat berjalan dengan baik. Kata Kunci: Analisis, Kemampuan Kognitif, Teori Bilangan. Abstract: According to Liebeck (in Abdurrahman, 2003: 253) states that mathematics learning outcomes that students must master are mathematics calculation and mathematics reasoning. Someone who has learned mathematics should have the ability to be related to good calculation and reasoning. Though there are still many students (both students and students) who often make mistakes related to these two things. Under these circumstances, researchers conducted research aimed at describing the results of the analysis of students' cognitive abilities in number theory courses. This cognitive ability is analyzed based on the indicator that is broken down from the definition of mastery of mathematics learning outcomes according to Liebeck (in Abdurrahman, 2003: 253), namely: (1) mathematical calculation ability, and (2) mathematical reasoning ability (mathematics reasoning). This type of research is qualitative research. The instrument of this study was the final semester semester examination test of the 2018/2019 academic year on number theory courses. The description of the results of this study are: (1) The cognitive abilities of students in mathematics calculation are good enough, which is shown by several students who have been able to solve mathematical calculation problems correctly. However, this ability still needs to be increased in terms of accuracy, accuracy, and caution; and (2) the cognitive abilities of students in the field of mathematics reasoning are good enough but need to be improved in terms of understanding the concept of the material being tested and the ability to transfer existing knowledge to solve a mathematical problem. Given the understanding of the concept is the main actor that must be mastered so that reasoning can go well. Keywords: Analysis, Cognitive Ability, Number Theory.
